This short patchwork kaftan is a celebration of heritage and sustainability, made from deadstock cotton madras fabric. Originating in the 17th century from the Indian city of Madras (now Chennai), madras fabric is known for its vibrant checks and lightweight texture, making it a staple in warm-weather wardrobes. Traditionally handwoven with irregularities that add character, each piece of this kaftan carries the legacy of centuries-old textile craftsmanship. By using deadstock fabric, this kaftan not only honors the history of madras but also embraces our more conscious approach: slow-fashion.
